I will try to make our issue as clear as possible.

Tried performing a custom black shade with 23.98 base, 48fps, and 180 degree shutter. Tried this on two epics set up on 3D rig. Sync cable with timecode and genlock were plugged in and cameras were locked. No LAN cable was plugged in. Both cameras hung up on Pass 1 Initializing. No progress on progress bar. Sat like this for over thirty minutes. The fans never came on the whole time and cameras got very hot, not sure how hot as info on the screen was frozen up.

Force shut down both cameras after realizing they were frozen. When trying to reboot the first thing we saw was red light on side and would only blink when you press the power button, no boot. Waited five minutes, green light comes on for a second, fans come on, then shuts off. No boot.

Started flashing firmware. Tried 3.3.14, 3.2.21, and others, no luck. Firmware flashing seems to work, all the lights and fans do what they should. Cameras now boot, fans are on, green light on, no image out of LCD port, SDI or HDMI.

Everything seems functional, just no images now, anywhere.

I know nothing about shooting 3D but, is it recommended that the cameras be black shaded while locked together? I would think that could introduce all sorts of potential issues.

Also - the obvious question - have you filed a support ticket with RED? (Seems to me your best bet for help!)

Yes, I would try black shade without them being synched together.

Disconnect the sync and genlock, or start barebones with just the LCD and camera and power connected.
