Hello,

Does anyone know how to apply a factory default reset using a combination of external buttons?
My red touch only shows image, but has lost its touch functionality, and I don't have a Redmote or Side Handle to perform the reset using the menus.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ignacio,

Check the screen lock isn't on. Just touch hold the padlock on the top right of screen.

Otherwise I think you just hold down the red power button on the brain to reset?

cheers,

Rad Craig mentioned you can perform a factory reset by holding the power button for 20 seconds on boot (you can let go once you hear the fans kick on full speed).

First, you may want to try double tapping the touch LCD. This will force it back to the control surface. You may want to try several double tap speeds.

Thanks for your replies.

The LCD isn't locked, it just doesn't work as a touch. Then I tried to update the firmware to the latest, and since I don't have the Side Handle, I can't confirm the upgrade or do anything.

When I should start pressing the power button? Just right after turning ON the camera? I've tried this several times and no factory reset seems to have been applied, I just get the "improper shutdown" message and the screen text to accept the firmware upgrade, which I can't accept.

Thanks a lot!

From off, you press and hold the power button for 20 seconds until the fans kick in.

As stated by Trent. When the camera is shut down, boot your camera holding the RED button until you hear the fan in full speed hair blower mode. This can take a while (up to 30 seconds). It will reinstall factory build preset.

Have used another Side Handle to access the menus, and accept the firmware, but the touch screen still doesn't work even after the reset to factory default setting. All other functions of the camera seem to work perfectly.

Hi Ignacio.

I've had this before with my Touchscreen. I swapped an EVF cable out and it worked. I'd try that s it may just be a dodgy EVF cable like what happened to me.

If you have a spare RED 5.0 Touchsreen, I'd swap that out to see if it makes a difference too. If the latter works, I'd say the touch capacitive screen isn't working though the video signal is.

If your touchscreen still doesn't work after a factory reset then it probably isn't a settings problem, but rather some sort of hardware issue. As others have suggested please try swapping the cable first, and then LCDs (if you have access to another). If that doesn't work or you don't have access to other hardware you should file a support ticket and be prepared to send in a log file. If you shutdown the camera by holding the power button down for a few seconds a log should automatically be saved on your SSD.

Hello Trent, I've already opened a ticket and sent the log (no reply since yesterday) using a Side Handle.

I've already swapped cables and will be able to use another LCD tomorrow.

Thanks a lot!
