Hey, I'm trying to work out a decent in-field playback option for DNXHR MXF files shot on an Epic just for the sake of reviewing footage and making sure it's properly backed up. We're dual recording to a PIX so if I wanted to watch the full takes that's an option but I just want to make sure the master clips are functioning and error free as we've had a few issues with playback errors in post and would like to catch them in the field before clearing the cards.
We're shooting on an Epic in 4k and the only thing that's come close to playing back the footage is Avid Media Composer First but that constantly errors when footage is dropped in and apparently needs to have the audio and video separated, rejoined and transcoded to have regular playback which is a lot of work just to check clips in the field.
Is there really no simple way to play these back in Red Cine or something similar just for the sake of scrubbing footage and making sure the clips are properly backed up? I've updated all the software on my computer but Red Cine still doesn't recognize any files in that camera's file folders but still recognizes the material shot on all the other REDs on set.
Any advice is much appreciated, thanks.
