  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

epic decision: weighing the handheld options

Hi Fredriik. Sounds good. I'm pretty happy with the way I've assembled the rig thus far with the BOMB and the RED top mount. My problem (well, one of many actually as I'm still waiting for a Canon mount - after all the $$ I've spent, I can't hire a PL lenses without facing a divorce) is dragging that RED BRICK around, as those Volts aren't that heavy-hour-power. Love to see and hear more.

hello Mark . Not only this set up you are showing is possible with our system ( Fredricks and mine lol ) but about another at least 10 more positions for the camera higher or lower, and same for the battery mount. and with way better balance of what you are showing , as this is front heavy configuration. That means you will be able to have the exact configuration but with less stress on your hands, as well as about a dozen more configurations including the one under the Epic.
Very close so stay tuned. This is suppose to be so well thought and also match with the Epic and its accessories as well, so it can only be a winner.

Best regards

Now this is the setup that makes so much sense to me. First it's very low mount, truly the "cat on a shoulder" concept. Looks well-balanced with the battery on back. Plus, it would be extremely quick to switch from tripod to shoulder with no setup. Just remove from tripod, place on shoulder and shoot. It takes the idea of the clutch and turns the camera into the clutch itself. I want something like this!

I understand the cat on the shoulder thought and sometimes it calls for that...but... one problem is the lens being to low in this configuration. It makes sense if you want a lower positioned camera. Or if the operator is above average in height. The system I want calls for any position, configuration... at all time, with effortless shifting between whatever position you desire, BUT most importantly balanced no matter what. There's even a lens in eye line, yet still cat on the shoulder possibility . Our system will do all this and more. That's why I'm so excited. There's a GREAT deal of thought designing this system and understand that we're NOT taking any orders . Not until we have the proto type up and running (about 4 weeks). I'm merely hinting that there's a system which will be in the market right after the pro to type is finished and that you guys should truly consider to wait a little or be prepared in that you will want it. It will be sold as a package and this includes a very sleek and innovative way of integrating our EVF mount as well. We will sell in parts for those who want to mix and match, but I have to say I don't believe anyone who sees it will want to. You will want it all :). It will be high end to a very competitive price. I'm very proud of it and hope RED will be as well when they see it.

This was to be my privately built ferrari and as we designed it we realised we're reaching this goal to the cost of... well still a german manufactured car, but not the cost of a ferrari ;). Therefor we feel compelled to try to deliver it to the market.

We will start our own thread where we will show pictures (renders of course, but eventually the parts as they're manufactured) and try to explain it better as the weeks go by. We just can't show to much yet as it's still in progress and we of course don't want to reveal to much, to soon.
