Epic Data Rate / External RAID 0

Hi all,
I started a feature project on a MacPro 12cores/64Gb ram with redrocket and nvidia quadro, 6Tb internal raid with a Dulce 4Tb as external scratch drive.
The system works great at half res (2K) using Premiere CS5.5 and Scratch for color correction.
I will soon have to travel for work and I was trying to setup a portable system so I can finish the editing while working overseas.
Of course I cannot bring the MacPro with me, but I have a new 17" Macbook Pro with 16Gb ram and a slim 2TB Glyph esata drive that I was thinking to use as scratch drive for Premiere CS5.5.
What I am missing is a source drive, big and fast enough to read Epic 5k footage (about 3.5 Tb).

Red states that Epic data rate goes up to 225Mb/s, and I guess they are referring to 5k/120fps 16 bit RAW full frame MX files. Right?
My project although was shot at 24fps... I did some math and data rate numbers seem to be a little less intimidating.
What do you guys think?

My options are RAID 0 using Thunderbolt or eSata (through PCIx), any suggestion?
The new 4Tb Proteus seems like a candidate but not so cheap (probably overpriced due to the lack of hard drives this days..)
The big question is: what is the suggested data rate?
Will I be fine with a OWC Mercury 4TB Elite Pro raid? http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/ME8Q7T40H128/

This was a pretty simple question but I guess nobody cares to share their experience or knowledge.
I guess not even RED cares to inform their customers about data rate details.
Since we do care to share, I am going to list what did not work for us:

- MacBook Pro 2.4GHz 17" w/xpress card input (16gb RAM)
- Solid state system drive
- 1 Sonnet e-sata to express (2 inputs)
- Source drive: Glyph 4Tb Raid 0 through esata
- Scratch drive: Glyph 2Tb Raid 0 through esata

With Adobe Premiere 5.5 and Mercuty Engine active we have a fluid playback only at 1/16 resolution.
On a Apple Cinema Display it is like watching YouTube.

The system was not able to sustain RedOne 4k 24p/2:1 Redcode 42 data rate.

I guess we can say Red footage can be only managed with the use of a Red Rocket or a high-end editing system.
