  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Epic / Canon Lens User Forum

Most of "Lens Test" forum is just lens discussion right now, isn't it?

Maybe just a "Lenses" forum with (possibly) some subforums like "PL" "Canon" "Nikon" etc?

I think the Lens Test forum is fine for what it is. Maybe we could also have a "Lens Discussion" forum too. I don't see the point in additional marketplace forum. The other techniques and whatnot discussions often fall into the realm of the Cinematography forum area...

Agreed . . . as of today. As RED ships the thousands of Canon Mounts the demographic of RedUser is going to evolve from Cine exclusive to DMSC style shooters. I think it a good thing for the health and growth of the RED community to have a home for these noobs that have no interest in ever making a Feature or $30K primes. Add to this the thousands of Scarlet users who might in time want to move up from a fixed lens camera to an SLR style Epic. There will be demand for a SLR Lens Forum in time.

It's not a Lens Test or Cine Tech section - it's a style of shooting, lifestyle and broad range discussion that comes with the SLR mount. Give these non-Cine users a home to interact, share and learn.

People have actaully been shooting Nikon Glass on RED for quite some time without the need for these sub forums.

But maybe that time has come because it's CANON? Not sure.

Agreed with an addition: Cine people have actually been shooting Nikon Glass on RED for quite some time without the need for these sub forums.

Automatic Focus Tracking

Automatic Focus Tracking

We use stills glass on Red One very sucsessfuly but I would like to know views on automated focus tracking with L glass ie the ability to lock on to a point (eyes or point on a face) and track the object, does it work, is it desirable can you over ride it manualy......

If we absolutely need this then it should be CANON/NIKON/PL/<<input-other-mounting-option-here>> sub-forums to the 'Lens Tests' section (which really could be called 'Lenses' - but that's just semantics).

Already have an alternate Lens section that Evin maintains that covers alternate lenses.
