I'm planning to order an Epic-M Brain next week (just waiting on a couple big invoices to roll in). In anticipation, I've already ordered the Canon Mount, Side Handle, Touchscreen, Redmote, Power Adapter Cable (for old Batt plate) and FMJ Bottom Plate/15mm LW mount.

I'm trying to orchestrate all this so I can shoot Epic on a project I've got in DC a few weeks out. I'm pretty sure that's everything I'll need. I've already got SSD's for my R1. I'll use the FMJ bits to mount the brain to my ET Hybird Plate. The touchscreen is in stock, so even if I don't get the Redmote or Side Handle in time I'll be ok for menus and I should be good for power.

The two mounts will allow me to shoot with my Panchros and my Canon TS-E's.

Am I missing anything really obvious to get up and shooting? I think I've done my homework well but any insight would be appreciated.

Cheers,
CB

The Epic power supply is probably worth having as well ? M

Looks like Epic has it's own power supply - the Red One power supply lists it's compatibility as Red One only.

I suspect that is because the connector is different. The question in CB's case is really whether the R1 PSU with the 2B-1B converter cable would work. I don't know the answer to this (suspect yes - but not something you wanna get wrong !!)

In my view, the dove tail quick release plate is a must...with the size of this camera, you need to be able to rebalance it very quickly if you go from a small prime to a large zoom prime (it's an unusual sized camera and it sometimes needs to be set further back over the tripod support). I have found that balancing this camera is the key and the dove tail allows you to manipulate it quickly...plus I love the rock solid quick release..good piece of kit.

And yes, Mark is right, the top handle really helps you get hold of the small unit and it is rock solid...so if you get the top handle, you will need the universal top mount as well.

It looks like you have done your homework well, but the only real way to do this is to set it up and then curse for the missing parts you need! ;0)

Good luck!

Neil
