  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC brain weight...

my back is singing!

Right Sanjin, but the Leica M mount requires an element in it so the mount would be a bit heavier than the Canon, although the lenses are much lighter.

5 pounds? That's not much more than a human brain. Perhaps we could try a transplant? Not really using the one I have.

Jarred,

Leica M bayonet mount has FFD 27.95mm and I'm sure it would be doable even using some titanium parts to build very lightweight M mount for EPIC/Scarlet S35.

Btw, with Leica and Cosina Voigtländer new M aspherical still lenses you have very fast and lightweight FF35mm set:

Summilux 21mm f/1.4, Summilux 24mm f/1.4, Summicron 28mm f/2.0, 35mm f/1.4, CV 40mm f/1.4, Summilux 50mm f/1.4, 50mm Noctilux f/0.95, CV 50mm Nokton f/1.1, Apo-Summicron 75mm f/2.0, Apo-Summicron 90mm f/2.0.

With Canon EF the fastest wide lens is 24mm f/1.4.

Jim, Jarred, and the Whole Red Team, congratulation. The Epic Camera weights Under Ten Pounds, that’s for a working Camera, The Brain, Side SSD Module the Handle all of it! From there we add whatever we need, 15 to 20 Lbs is the range of a truly working camera. That is Very Good! Congratulations!

That 5lb weight includes the Ti PL lens mount as well. a Brain with a Canon Mount weighs slightly less.

First of all, congratulations in what you've achieved, guys! Second thing: THANK YOU ALL!

Jarred, does this means we (STAGE 2) will be able to choose to get our EPIC delivered with the Ti PL mount? Paying the difference, for sure. But I'm seriously thinking of the advantages of having a lens mount that will almost never need to be backfocused.

Thanks, again! :hurray:

And with the package weight what am I up for in Fed-ex bill … ready NOW!!!:):):)

I think I can handle that,
I see O connor lost a lot of 2575 customers, though - for those customers who don't need to ballance an HR on those = 2.26796185 kilograms

Although, the reality is that in the scenarios where you'd be using a 2575, you might also be building the Epic with more modules, heavier lenses, etc.

The beauty of the Epic design is that you have the option to go this lightweight which is not the case with the R1.

You won't want to sell your 2575 though.

Project TIME BASE setting

Project TIME BASE setting

Would be nice wth base framerates up to 50 (yeah, I know the 60 request will be coming, but I live in PAL land, and HD is displayed at 720p50...)

Good news, the base frame rate goes up to 60 ... i.e. select a PROJECT TIME BASE of 23.98, 24.00, 29.97, 25.00, 47.96, 48.00, 50.00 or 59.94.

So all those hours I spent at the gym in preparation for the R1 were for nothing?

Hehe.
I may have to bulk up a little more. At that weight I may consider carrying the camera everywhere I go.

I tested the Steadicam Tango the other day with 8lbs on board with a CG 4 inches.

So I am interested in specifics.

Epic with an SSD module and an SSD card? How heavy?

Then I am adding a Ultra Prime / Compact Prime at 2.2lbs . A tiny Heden motor and a taped on ND filter.
