Can anybody confirm this. Epic firmware 5.3.19. phantom power for Channel 1 does not work. Channel 2 is works fine.
Audio for channel 1 is working if i supply power from the external mic so I'm assuming this has be a bug.

cheers

Our Epic phantom suddenly stopped working today. Ch1/2 read "48 power not supported" but was working just fine a few days ago.

I'm using the x A box with xlr inputs to a Rode ng2 mic. If I get the epic to supply phantom on ch1 it won't work. If I disable phantom and use a battery in the mic it works fine. Channel 2 work perfectly with phantom power.

It may be a bug. I used my NTG-3 with RED's audio cable and had some strange audio noise when plugged in to chanel 2. It was the first time I used the cable (& that build for that matter) in the field. The mic works fine so I'm sure it was something in camera. I was shooting live & didn't have time to play with it, I put my video mic pro on & going. Later on when I went to sort out what went wrong with the NTG-3 I noticed when plugged into input 1 (directly into the camera) it worked fine. Roll back to a release build & see what you get.

Maybe try the release build and see if it's a hardware thing.?

I just tested both my EPIC DRAGON and SCARLET DRAGON running 5.3.19 and found that phantom power works as expected across all audio channels (both 1&2 on the camera and 3&4 when connected to PRO I/O module).

I have had a chance to test the latest firmware beta but unfortunately that didn't work. I loaded the release build and that sadly didn't work either. So I think the problem is hardware related now..

Did you ever remove or insert the 3.5mm jack of the WC A-box while the camera was on and phantom power was enabled?

Also, John Choi, can you chime in -- did your Channel1 start working again when you went back to a release build?

Update: I restarted the camera periodically over the past 2 weeks (originally in AUDIO menu > "SOURCE" was completely empty and could not find "CAM ANALOG/ PRO I/O etc) and then one day these settings came back as did 48V POWER & LIMITER boxes (previously read N/A). I am positive my RODE NTG-1 is working but with the Phantom enabled > XLR > WC Abox there is no audio. I've had this set up with the same mic and phantom power for 2 years now without any problems. Yes I have pulled the 3.5mm jack while phantom was enabled without any issues.

The only thing that was altered was installing the top Fan upgrade and the very next day the mic stopped working?

I've sent RED the log file and they have not informed me that I need to ship my Epic back. :(

I just remembered another issue when the 48V phantom problems started:
• rear headphone jack not working anymore
• Brain could not read previously shot clips in 512 1.8" Redmag that was used the day before BUT when inserting the same RedMag in my Scarlet it played back fine
• Mic (different non 48V req'd) mic was tested 48V on and off, could not hear through headphone jack but levels indicate sound = playing back through RedCineX results there is sound!!

FIRMWARE ISSUE = YES

Sound is very, very low, with A box and Senn MKH60, 48V phantom, with rear headphone jack and all in camera audio settings nearly maxed for gain/volume. However, the actual recorded audio is rather at acceptable volume. On the penultimate Beta camera build, BTW.

Thank you very much
