Eric Ulbrich Directed and I shot this piece, mostly at 120fps 5K 2.4:1

I love the Epic.
I love Eric.
I love Digital Film Studios.

Eric is really cool to work with because he comes from a lighting and camera background like myself so he "gets it". The dancers were SICK. I honestly could film stuff like this every day for 12 hours a day for like a month. Unfortunately we only had a little over 8 hours to light and shoot this whole thing. We shot at digital film studios, just north of burbank, CA. Nice clean, white cyc. I really enjoyed this whole process - oh and thanks to my wife Sharon Kanes for producing this!

Eric and I are talking about having a 4k and 2k master... no idea when that will happen... both of us are pretty busy, but fingers are crossed.

Thanks for all the kind words!

hi Dan, awesome...

What is the shutter speed that you are using in this clip ? The speed ram is done in post i assume ?

we varied the shutter - ramping was done in post. Most of the shutter was at 90' - so 1/240th at 120fps - some of it was at 1/250 and 1/500 as well... some of the off shutter speeds yielded flicker even under tungsten lights - which I liked for some shots...

I hardly see any motion blur and no strobe too. Well done :)

Without paying close attention to details outside of the dancers themselves, I thought the floor was some kind of black marble...until I realized it was actually a bunch of sweeping white scuff marks from their sneakers...so fresh.

Really awesome work Dan, Eric & Kings...this is up there as far as seeing Epic deployed with style and skill.

Awesome Dan. Also thought the shutter used kept it nice and crisp and high energy even on the overcranked parts.

I could shoot this all day too, but I was a b-boy back in the day. I think I can still hang with these guys. In addition to the handglide, the freeze at 00:29 is pretty badass. Thanks for sharing.

This was badass, thanks for posting. Fantastic mood and lighting, and of course beautiful images. Great energy. Especially like the chubby guy :)

Hey guys thanks for checking out the video! I'm on a music video today and have hardly any reception so Im gonna let Dan chat about the project and I'll post some thoughts over the weekend but I will say a 4k version is in the works!
