Is it right to say that once EPIC is finished and shipping most of the work on Scarlet S35 will be finished?

I'm really hoping we can still see Scarlet S35 in 2011.

I would think so. Same sensor, just less total processing power. I think Scarlet S35 release will be determined more by when initial demand for Epic is satisfied and there is a surplus of sensors available for Scarlet.

Hopefully RED will really ramp up their production speed, because demand will probably be incredibly high for EPIC and all versions of Scarlet.

So what will be the final resolution of Scarlet S35? Its still about 3k in resolution right?

Eh, no. S35 was always slated for 5K. You are thinking of Cinema & 8x Fixed -- both of which are, indeed, 3K.

Jim mentioned recently that the $1000 HDRx price increase was specifically for the 2/3" Scarlet (by way of saying the increase for S35 might a little higher), I take that as confirmation that it's still happening.

Do you remember where he said that?

I just hope that Jim realizes that a 1K increase for Scarlet S35 puts it out of the range of the HVX crowd.

Hopefully RED will give us a nice Scarlet S35's starters kit with the modules at a discount.

If the most basic working Scarlet S35 kit costs more than 10K I'm unfortunately not going to be able to afford one for quite some time.

Scarlet S35 HDR price increase has not been sorted out yet...

The only other camera left to talk about is the Scarlet S35. It too has less than capable boards and ASICS for HDRx™™™™ and Easy HDR. We are looking at that now.

The others... FF35, 645 and 617 all have the proper boards and ASICS.

Jim
