  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Epic and Scarlet BUILD 4 V4.0.12 FIRMWARE

I'm guessing the monitor flip and mirror was not solved.

Well in that case does anyone know of a bottom plate I can attach to the brain which I can mount the LCD to on the back near the HDMI out so that I can have the LCD facing back and upright? Tired of asking for the feature and getting no response.

  • Added pre-settable recording options

Anybody played with this yet? I'd love to be able to have a 24fps 5K preset, and then press a hot key to switch to 5K 96fps, 4K 120fps, 2K @ 240fps without needing to scroll through all the menus to make those changes. I'm hoping thats what this feature will do, could really use this.

That has been available since version 3.2.x

What has been added in version 4.0.12 is the ability to add the options on the Recording dialog to presets. That is, the time lapse, ramp, long exposure, etc. options.

+3 for flip flop as a priority in future builds.

Along with metadata tags for stills while shooting video. This was a feature that was touted at release and the side handle has a dedicated switch for. Monitor flip is a big one in my opinion.

I would like an additional option in the presets for Show: Calibration Map Dialog.
Current options for making presets for 24FPS and HighFPS or TL are almost complete. To make it complete it would be ideal to have a simple way to set an appropriate black shade cal map.

Press of a button X would be mapped to FPS preset.
Depress of X would be mapped to black shade Cal Map Dialog where appropriate Cal Map would be set.

Another way - ideally setting of a Cal Map should be available through presets, but I can imagine how this is not an optimal thing to do. In case a Cal Map set in the preset is missing on SSD the preset could not run successfully.

I don't understand how my cheap ass monitors from China can do image flip, yet the makers of these amazing high-end, top of the line cameras can't figure it out.....what gives?! How is it taking so long to figure out?

This is one of my biggest frustrations with my camera, mainly because it's embarrassing that a camera this expensive can't do something so simple that almost every other camera or monitor offers.

Hey Jarred, does the new fan support include the updated fan algorithm that more steadily brings up the fan rpms (and presumably works on the original fan as well)?

any interest in ever releasing a burst mode for the dsmc models? higher fps but not continuous rolling? or higher compression but more fps? i'd be interested in either if they are ever technically feasible? thanks!

I'd guess that the touch screen thing might have something to do with it.

But the whole screen is touch response, so why couldn't they just flip and invert... It's not like only part of the screen is touch screen.

Hey all,

Loaded this up in the middle of the shoot I am on right now (that is how much I trust red) and no problems at all. Smooth and responsive.

have to say that since moving to release this is rock solid. RED team were very responsive bug crushers in the beta phase. I'd say its like 3.1.7 was in terms of stability.

Thanks Red

Hey guys does anyone remember the red EPIC bodies that were painted other colors?? What happen to that Idea?

Anyone else noticed increased fan noise when in standby on this build (much louder that V3).

Is it because its tweaked for the new fans which I've not yet received?

If the new fan algorithm is enabled, than I think it more linearly increases the fan. So rather than going from quiet-to-ramjet, it steadily increases speed to try to maintain fan noise more evenly (which would account for slightly louder standby fan, but rarely jumping between modest-to-max as it used to).

But I asked Jarred if it was enabled and didn't hear anything. Are you rocking Scarlet or Epic, Jeff?
