Has anyone figured out how to get the Preston FIZ to roll an Epic? I cannot seem to get it to work. Preston told me it should just work/ no HU3 set-up needed.

Here is what I am doing:
1. Preston's "FIZ to Epic" cable connected to the white BNC on the Red Break out/in cable and that is plugged into the "sync" port on the Epic.
2. Epic Menues: "Brain GPI in High = Toggle Record" also "Brain GPI in Low = Toggle Record"

The HU3 lights up and thinks it's rolling.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Rich

The EPIC has a Schmidt trigger which requires a 3v float in the shorted connection loop.

True true, I assume Preston has worked that out sence they offer a cable for the Epic.

Make sure GPIO is set to general purpose (Settings/Setup/GPIO). Also, like Mitch said, Preston may supply the cable but unless its supplying a constant 3v then its a no go. You can check this easily by using a volt meter on the cable that comes out of the Preston. Just attach one lead to the center pin of bnc and one to the housing, then trigger the record. If it reads 3v all the time until you press the roll button again you should be good.

I am getting 3 volts with a run command on the FIZ side out of the BNC. I have also tried both of my Red cables. It's still not running.

Contacting Red service.
