Hi All,

I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me what the coverage of the Arri Ultra Primes are on Epic's 5K sensor? Specifically the 16,24,32,50 & 85mm?

Thanks in advance :-)

I have the 12mm. It covers all . nice to finally really see what comes out of that lense on 5K

Hey Michael,

Thanks for your response. Can you explain what you mean by a little baggy?
I think he means a little bit less tight on the frame than you normally would. Basically, shoot it with the intention of cropping a bit in post. Please correct me if I am wrong, Michael.

Nick is 100% correct

out past traditional S35 the lenses are not allways great from a stricktly technical pov. It is not just the loss of light, you can also see sharpness, chromtic and geometry issues. What I was suggesting is that you may not want to rely on the fidelity of everything past about 4400pixels wide BUT you might as well record it. I have been shooting 5k but working off a smaller frame. I then have the option of working of either. They are great lenses and are fine for lots of styles of shooting all the way out to 5k.

Lots of people are shooting 5k for 16:9 by simply fitting to height at the processing stage. Dropping to 4800 wide really does clean the image up considerably with UPs. What aspect ratio are you shooting?

14mm UP no problems with 5k...

Has anyone tried the Arri Ultra LDS primes on Epic? We are considering to order a few of these primes but only if the LDS system functions with RED. Any idea anyone?

I honestly would say wait a bit and see what NAB brings. I don't have any information others don't it just speaks to common sense.

Hans we have a set of Arri Ultra's LDS's and the LDS functions are not yet enabled on EPIC. After asking a few times if they'd support LDS we just heard that it was "in the works".
