I just watched this on another screen and it looks like shit. Something is wrong with the shades i cant explain it. Does anybody else know how to fix it? I think i over crushed the blacks. I'll fix it and repost
It looked perfect on my Macpro.

Could be one of the monitors weren't calibrated. If you tried to watch it on a TV screen, chances are it was under some funky color profile.
It showed a lot of digital artifacts on the shades. I hope im using the right words. The shades from grey to black werent smooth. I watched in on a laptop and on two computer screens

Banding i think is what you mean.

Definitely banding. Depends what the bit depth of the monitor is, not to mention what codec you rendered the footage out to (I'm thinking h.264)

you're right h.264. I always used Mpeg2 but i keep hearing about how H.264 is superior, faster, etc. Any ideas on how to fix it?

It's an 8-bit codec. It's destined to have banding. Depending on what program you're using to encode it, there may be a few options that allow you to reduce banding. It may soften the image some as it smooths out the colors quite a bit.

Can I just use a different codec? Anyway to get around it without softening the image? I used Premiere Pro to export. Do you suggest I export using another program? different codecs?
Thanks for all your help.

I export a FULL quality file (no compression) then through QUICKTIME 7 I export it to WEB/DESKTOP, and it takes 1/10th of the time of compressor or doing it through FCP..
http://vimeo.com/30890974 (this was compressed that way)
Sorry the video is pretty boring.. but the first 30 seconds are ok!

That video was very soothing for some reason. I never get to watch trains in Egypt. There's something about it that makes me feel that it's not that hard to let go and just start over.
Anyway I can only export full quality on After effects and i can never export the audio there for some reason... Any other programs where I can export full quality with audio. Also after i export thrtough quicktime, what kind of codec am i getting? I undestand its a .mov file but what kind of compression is it?

Under your export settings in After Effects you need to check a box that says Audio Output
