  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Enter the Dragon

I have a question ... Are we still rocking out at 6K or does everything change? Jim mention 6K + ... If it's still secret no need to reply. All the best happy new year.

Also, that DR looks more like 22 stops where I am seeing.

- Paul.

As a scarlet owner, it feels great to not be forgotten! Thanks for the info.

I want to humbly suggest that you guys be willing to compromise the DSMC design requirement to get better heating... errr cooling.

While You are here Jarred - just to ask again (its next to impossible to read through everything here):

With any Scarlet-to-DragonEpic trade-in program months if not year+ away - Any chance of Scarlet trade-in to "normal" non-Dragon Epic in the meantime? Then pay for a Dragon update as any other Epic owner would?

+1 Sorta like the MX and RedRocket deal. Pay now. Receive later?

You're way to busy Mark :) I'm a much better candidate.

hahahaa... :)

I like to test in real world situations. Bench tests are fine, but out in the humid jungles, ice, blazing sun and deserts so many faults become apparent.

To be honest, I'm still very happy with my current EPIC cameras.
I'd want to see major latitude and ISO benefits before I upgrade. I'm sure there will be... But until I do my own personal testing, I'm quite happy staying with what I have.

Speculation is gonna drive you guys insane.. so its best just take any pricing posts from non-RED people with a grain of salt.

true, you guys have a habit of surprising us all the time.

I suspect the next few months shall be interesting to say the least!

There are two products I wish you guys would ad to the family:

1 Smaller capacities SSDs, 256 GB and even 128 GB would be great!

2 Thunderbolt SSDs Readers! I have the late 2011 MacBook Pro model and i`m not planning on getting a retina anytime soon, since all my money will now go straight to a savings account for the Scarlet/ EPIC Dragon Trade in!

Cheers!

Not sure what you mean by the SSDs. There are already 128 and 256GB SSDs. Am I misreading your request?

They already have 128gb and 256gb, and 64gb cards bro.

Hey Jim,
Great news, but how will this change monitoring?
I am looking at getting Sony's 17" OLED monitor. Do you think
that will handle the DR of the Dragon sensor?
Also, when the Dragon comes out please post some minimum requirements
for computer processing.

It is hard enough to get through all the pages without a page worth of jokes... let's do that on another thread in Off Topic. :-)

Jim

There are some military customers we have that use 1k all the time .... we need to keep that :)

For very narrow FOV and/or really high framerates? Sounds fun. Hope you guys get to make something special for the troops one day. Insane rugged nato attachment camera. And you def should smack a high powered RED laser on it, even if it doesn't need it. :)

Can we please see more mid-tweaking frames? I understand it might be a bad call but no matter how little, whenever you guys can drop a hint (or want to make a point!). :)

Will there be support for the 48gb SSD with dragon/scarlet dragon/whatever scarlet trade in option there is?

Could they potentially be made to work in lower resolutions and redcodes?

Thanks, happy new year!

somehow i'm kinda doubting the 48 will be a great option for dragon... it was designed for scarlet/low(er) datarates. i'm guessing it might still be 'compatible', but throttled. so, do you really wanna limit your $20k+ machine so you could save $200 on media? i'd sell to someone who wants it and upgrade... :)

not to be pessimistic but i'm worried about throughput with all options besides the 512... perhaps throttling will be needed on all the non new gen mags? i am going to wait this one out and not buy anything but 512's until we know for sure...
