Hi: a long while back, Jarred or Jim said that we would be able to stream an encrypted video/audio signal from the Epic to an Ipad or Iphone via WiFi. Sounded like a great way for Directors/etc to monitor. Is that function enabled? If not, is that still on the table as an upcoming feature? I am trying to make some equipment decisions. Thanks

Thnaks Dan, but why would I buy an extra piece of gear if the EPIC should have this capability onboard (although it may not be enabled yet). I guess I was asking about the plans for this feature, not what can I cobble together today.

My apologies - some people care about what is actually achievable in the here and now because they have a paying client that is requesting it.

Anything in the future is mere speculation and a pipe dream.

I'd imagine Red will share any future device when they are ready to.

Thanks Dan. They shared plans for it a while back. I was just inquiring whether those plans were still in the works or had been killed off. Anybody from RED in the know? Thanks

Before 2012.

1. In a perfect world you would use my device and a Teradek at the same time since they do different things.
2. I think you should buy the Teradek - but don't expect it to be a true monitoring system. It's an instant dailies systeM
With an advanced h.264 display relay capability.
3. Are you good at IT work or do you have someone who is?

The best way to monitor what someone is shooting is using an hd monitor at the end of an hd-sdi cable right now.

Agree on that Teradek Cube is NOT a monitoring system for iPads, but the new MacBook Air seems to be a good alternative as we get less than quarter of a second delay on a 2009 MacBook Pro.
