Yesterday my EPIC-W came in.. and as I unboxed it, I realized I was in trouble. I use foolcontol for all setup and interfacing purposes, and realized I may have no way of getting to the menus to enable WIFI. After poking around on reduser, I found was able to put enough pieces together to find a solution, and I figured I would post it definitively for anyone in the same boat…
Use the “DSMC toolkit” and set up a custom preset as follows:
Media bay 1: navigation up
Media bay 2: navigation down
Media bay 1+2: navigation select
Media bay rec half press: navigation right
Side rec half press: navigation CW (yes this is necessary lol.. once selecting the “WIFI” menu, you need a CW nav button to actually select AD-HOC, etc., not sure why you can’t just press “nav down” here)
Now throw that preset file in a “force_preset” folder as instructed, and with careful control, you should be able to navigate all the way down into the communications > WIFI menu, and enable it. After that foolcontrol had no problem connecting and getting me up and running the rest of the way!
Is there any way to control the default state of WIFI within a preset file? Instead of just the control schema? If not, can RED include preset file that accomplishes? Doesn’t seem like I am the only one who has come up against this!
