  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Emerging Pro Still & Motion Competition

darn, missed the part about 5 years experience. Guess my kids just got their first directing gig. And then Daddy can borrow the camera if they win. :-)

Steve, you seem to have at least 20 years professional film making experience/background and been Local 600???

Fine print... If you have more than 5 years of professional experience you are not eligible.

Whops, I read that one wrong. I though it was at least 5 years of pro experience. So this mean anyone with 0-5 years of professional experience can enter?
Here is the exact line in the fine print
"(ii) a professional photographer or filmmaker with up to five (5) years of professional experience. "

I believe that experience disqualifies me. Which is okay. There are a lot of talented people who could use this opportunity to take that next step.

Yes! The 4K Festival last year was perfect. Hope they do another one!

It's a matter of semantics. Think there should be some clarification. This contest seems to
be designed to give people a little exposure push into the higher ends of the industry where
there is somewhat more creative vision needed/desired than in other sorts of commercial work.
For stills say shooting for Vogue..for motion say shooting Fortune 500 commercials.

In that context...Does 5 years experience shooting Wedding portraits or 5 years shooting
corporate video work really disqualify someone ? Big difference between that vs. someone
who indeed has 5 years experience shooting editorial for Vogue or Nike commercials.
One person got their big break...the other person is maybe still looking/aspiring.

Similarly 5 years experience as AC or gaffer is 5 years...but...it's not experience where
you were the author of the images.
