An imaginary line about 3/4 of the way down the image has elevated noise below it.

What's really interesting is when I switch to factory black shade, it swaps sides of the line and the top 3/4's of the frame becomes saturated in noise...

Really frustrating. Tried blackshading and it seemed to help but to have to do a 30 minute blackshade everytime I switch cards and risk a failed blackshade is just not an option on set...

Anyone else seeing this?

What is your process for performing the blackshade? And yes I suggest filing a ticket with your log file to RED as well.

Process? Go to caliberation and hit black shade. Not doing anything out of the ordinary with it (that I know of).

Are you sure you had no light leeks during the BS?? And was up to temp/set to frame rate shutter formatted REDMAg, bla bla bla.....
What does it look like when you bring the ISO down? is it still visible??? or only at extreme ISO's?

Thanks for the ideas Russ.

No way there was any leaks during blackshade, but the thing is, when I switch to factory black shade, the other 3/4's of the frame gets the elevated noise, and the bottom 1/4 has reduced noise... Really odd...

After looking more closely, the noise line is ONLY noticable if that bottom right corner has black in it (0 - 20%). If there is anything other black/dark, luminance being 20% or higher, the line is not noticable. If the screen has black in that bottom right corner, the line is noticable at ISO800 but VERY subtle. That sample image I put up was at ISO12800 to exagerate the effect.

As you can guess, I'm not super worried about it because it is so hard to see, especially to the naked eye, but it is a little frustrating knowing it is there...

Your best bet is to talk direct to Red support with a log file I think.

So really weird thing fixed this odd noise line break on the sensor...

Bumped the iso in camera to 12,800 to where the noise break is really noticable. Then, while at 12,800 iso, I changed resolutions from 5K WS to 5K HD, and magically the line dissapeared. Almost like at such high iso, the camera noticed the imbalance and fixed it? Switching back to 5K WS and any other resolution, it seems gone...

Does this make sense to any Red Techs out there?

That almost implies it was a monitoring issue - still weird though. Did you contact Red directly about this?
Save your camera log file asap.

How could it be a monitoring issue if the noise line was showing up in the clips in Redcine X as well?

Daniel, have an sharp eye on this.

My Epci started to become somewhat noisy. Some time later it started to show the sensor's grid in den deep blacks. Blackshading did not help this issue and a few days later the camera popped up error messages while trying to black shade.

Filed a ticket and got my camera back from the repair shop. Now it's better than ever. In doubt file a ticket an send Red a log-file.

Thanks for the tip Hans. Seems like the issue is gone now though which is odd, but good...
