Just received my eltech 15mm top mounts and cheese plate..
some problems....the screws that came with my combo were flat and extended out beyond the mount...foolishly i screwed then on and now i've made a groove on my RED...*ouch*

also, one of the holes on the mount was too tight/small..so i always have to force in the rod for that particular hole...

this is not meant as a message to denounce any of eltech's accessories...i've only heard good things about them so far...maybe i'm just unlucky...

i've emailed Stephen and i'm pretty sure he'll try to rectify the problems for me...

I can't imagine what you did. I just got mine today and they mounted up sweet and smooth as butter.

You should never force anything. It generally means something is misaligned or not fitting correctly. Forcing metal parts almost always results in damage...

Do you mean one of the rod holes was too small? Did you have the wing nut completely loose? The rod should slide smoothly but snugly through the opening and be able to be tightened with less than a full rotation on the wing nut.

I might add that I picked up mine a few days ago and after figuring out that the red mounting hardware (4 bolts) don't work---only ET's mounting hardware---it came together perfectly!! In fact so well I picked up two more sets today.

.....I agree with Mark. As soon as you feel it's not coming together, you should stop and have a look at it.....you might have to clean out the threads with a tap on your Red or ET's cheese plate--or at least have a look to see what the restriction is. I can't say enough about the quality of Element's products after stopping in and having Stephen and Hector walk me through their products. I ended up buying most everything that was available--and especially looking forward to the "cheese stick"

yup..one of the rod holes was too small...i loosen the wing nut all the way...didn't help...

tried to replace the ET screws with hex nuts that didn't protrude as much...but after that the cheese plate showed gaps between the top mounts...

definitely ot a misalignment....the rod hole was the first one i inserted a ET rod into...thats even before i mounted the combo on...
the other three rod holes were fine...

Just got an email from Stephen asking me to call him. He's working at midnight!!!

Anyways, he taught me how to fix the rod hole problem and said it could have got banged up during shipping...esp. if the rods were not inserted in during packaging..

he's also trying to help me with the top mount problems..and said he'll send me new hardware!!! i always had confidence in the company since like what i said in the 1st post, i've only ever heard good things about ET....but experiencing it 1st hand takes it to a whole new level....

thanks Stephen...

ps. Stephen told me that another customer was experiencing problems with their top mount combo...and he found out they were using RED bolts to mount the top mounts...so for future ET customers...just please use all ET hardware down to every last nut and washer...
