Element Technica Battery Plate Installation Photos

ET Back Plate

ET Back Plate

Here are a couple more photos of three of the mounting options with the ET Back Plate.

So...
1) When will this battery plate, eh, plate, be available for purchase?
2) How much for the v-mount add on?

Here are some of the ways it can be used.
1. You can mount it on an ET top mount, Red Top mount, or Red Universal Mount.
2. You can mount it directly to the ET cheese plate.
3. You can mount an ET Speedy Clamp to it and clamp it onto a rod anywhere on the camera.
4. You can mount a V Lock to the back of it and use the ET Speedy Clamp/V Dock to mount the battery plate.

Nice to have all those options...well done!

I probably wouldn't use v-mount with the battery plate when you can just use the rod mount.

Another option is (this may be better for guys who don't have the ET breakout box) is to mount the Red battery plate directly onto a Red side mount which will be very stable......and give me a use for my $800 worth of Red side mounts.

Another further option is also to screw the ET drive mount directly onto a Red side mount as well. dunno how fast the Reddrive can be removed from the ET cradle thou.
If it was gonna give me any grief I'd probably buy 2 ET drive mounts along with the v-mounts for quick swap outs.

Removing RED drive from ET shock mount cradle too me about the same time to remove from a RED drive cradle but really Dave you make a good point, having two ET shock mount for each drive would be a nice hot swap.

My question is how do I mount a universal mount to this ET battery plate...I just got the plate in mail today but I realize now I am missing parts indeed, I dont have ET top mounts on my RED so I was hoping to rig a universal mount to this plate and mount bat this way...how do I do that? Thanks for sharing your set ups. cheers

Hey Clay, in this post I go through the process of mounting an earlier version of the ET aluminum battery plate to an ET universal mount... with a couple pics.

Hope this helps man.

Thanks Andrew...I will most likley invest in ET top mounts but I was more curious how I could get a RED universal mount on the botton of this plate...Hedge, isnt this how you rigged it to your camera at BM this year?

The hole patterns on the RED Universal Mount and the Element 15mm top bracket have the same spacing. The Battery Backing Plate has an array of 4 .265" laid out to allow the backing plate to go on our 15mm top bracket (or RED's 19MM top bracket) in 4 different orientations; North, South, East and West. (if North and South are along the optical axis)

Because of the slightly different shape of the RED Universal Mount, the backing plate can mount in 2 different orientations; North and South.

Feel free to give us a call anytime if you have other questions.

Element Technica Drive Mounts

Shawn: The back plate is available for purchase now. It's $75, or $85 with a male V mount. The speedy Clamp/V Dock is $250 and comes in 15mm and 19mm.

David: You are right that it is a good idea to have one shock mount per drive. That is actually how the system was designed to work. The idea is that you would put one drive mount on each drive, which allows you to make use of the V mount quick release that is attached to the drive mounts. Once you have a drive mount on each Red Drive, you can now swap drives in seconds. There will even be a package available of three drive mounts and one Speedy Clamp/V Dock for $950. Each drive mount is $250 and each speedy clamp/V Dock is $250 individually.

The drive mounts ship with two nylon tipped set screws, but ET will offer a thumb screw kit that will allow quicker removal of the drive mount for those who want to use multiple drives in one mount, but its not the quickest solution.

Here are some photos of the latest production model Shock Mounts and Speedy Clamp/V Docks. I also snapped a quick shot of the thumb screw kit that will be offered.

Also, when the drive mounts start shipping, there will be hardware included that allow it to be converted into a lower profile rigid mount for use with the upcoming Red Ram Drive. I included a photo the rigid mount conversion as well.

Hey Chris, does this mean that the drive mount I won in the DCS raffle is ready to ship? ;-0

Anyone in town (NYC) who could make some mod on my RED plate that allowed me to change the length of the power cord from a short one when mounted to camera and a longer when if you need to go back to the belt etc? Is this possible....if not I still want to shorten the cable since I am mounting the battery to the camera with ET battery plate + Red belt combo.
