Just wrapped a short on RED 4.5K 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Tried to do a Log & Transfer in Final Cut Pro but all I got was a series of green screens. What am I missing?

No need to finish on 4K - this is destined for YouTube.

4.5k is not currently supported in the FCP L&T workflow, I believe. Your best best is probably to render out ProRes proxies using Clipfinder or RedRushes, edit with those, then conform back to the camera proxies for grading in Color.

Thanks. Any particular settings you'd recommend for Clipfinder? I've never used it before.

The best I can say is play around. Try different options, see what works best on your system. The smaller your proxy renders, the better your render speeds will go. So unless you REALLY need to, I would suggest rendering at 1/4 or 1/8

Something I was not aware of is the while 4.5K footage is supported by the new Color Plugin, it comes in at 1/2 Rez, due to Color having a 4K max resolution. So you might get the best results by rendering your 4.5K footage down to 4K DPX or something. (After you edit, of course)

I did a project converting everything to 1920x817 just for editing in FCP with a second monitor for desktop preview (not to video monitor - would show squeezed 16:9 only).

Thanks fellas. Because we want to go directly from the edit to the output (various reasons), I decided to go with 2K+ (high). I just wasn't happy with 1/4. If you think 1/2 or 2K+ (normal) would be faster without sacrificing significant res, I'll do my next batch that way.
