Hi!

I plan to shoot 4K with my RED and finish at 2K.

I will use Blackmagic stuff for editing/monitoring 2K: the Multibridge Pro and the HDLink Pro.

I need advice on the type of storage I need. What type of RAID do I need if I want to:

- edit offline with ProRes 2k (to be conformed later at a post house)
- finish online directly with 2K DPX files

What are the speeds required for these two alternatives in terms of the RAID system? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I am trying to see what route I should choose. I'm on the Mac platform, by the way.

Personally I think the bandwidth and storage requirements of DPX at 2K make it kinda impractical for editing, more finishing and final color correction. We use G-SAFEs and G-Speed raids- one is a fiber channel Look into Crimson Workflow for a more sensible offline/online approach:

Noah,

You are right, I meant edit offline with 2K ProRes and finish online with DPX. I edited my post. Thanks for spotting it!

In fact I am interested especially in the requirements for editing with ProRes 2k files.

What kind of RAID do I need for that (speed needed)?

I think finishing should be done at a post house for feature work. But it's nice to edit offline in 2K to see the final format size.
