Any idea if this is possible (i don't have any r3d's at my disposal this second)? Let's say i've already cut something with the proxies, can i perhaps media manage the project in FCP and somehow use the new L&T plugin to convert just those files in the PRORES?

not clear...are you asking whether you can go from prores to wrapped R3Ds? If so no. You'll need the original R3D's since the wrapping operation is essentially a file copy rather than a transcode. If you have access to the original R3D's then follow up with the clipfinder workflow

An entire cut was done with the camera proxies, _M.mov's to be exact... The project has been handed over to another editor who would rather cut with prores material instead, it seems like the easiest thing to do is just render all the footage out as prores (its huge though 2.5tb of r3d's alone), and have him reconnect his media to the prores stuff....

through redcine i guess... unless anyone has a easier solution

Clipfinder will allow you to take the xml of what you cut with the proxies and you can render to prorez, the conform feature should allow you to use the same xml and generate a new one that is linked to your prores files.

good luck
scott

is there anyway of setting handles on the new prores material? especially for a editor
