EasyRig question. . .

Hi all. . .

I used to have an EasyRig for our RED Ones, and loved it. When we ran out of money and had to finish a film, we sold it. We have since purchased a ReadyRig for gimbal use and I'm not certain I'm as happy with the ReadyRig for handheld as I was the EasyRig.

My EasyRig question concerns the weight ranges. When EasyRig states that something is good for, say, camera kits weighing between 11 and 17 pounds, does that mean it takes 11 pounds off the shoulder? That is, will a 17 pound camera kit now weigh 6 pounds on the shoulder? Or will an 11 pound camera now weigh -6 pounds? Or is it somewhere in the middle?

It's saying that it can suspend a payload that weighs between 11lbs and 17 lbs. Say your camera set-up weighs 14lbs. If you hook the line from the EasyRig to it, it should hold your camera freely without any support from you(besides carrying the weight of the EasyRig and payload on your hips/back.

No. It means that, within that weight range, you should be able to maneuver the camera (up and down) fairly easily. While an 11 lb rig might tend to rise and the 17 lb to sink, these tendencies should be countered by the EasyRig without too much trouble so that you can choose the camera height you want and keep that fairly consistent.

I was interested in the EasyRig Minimax, but my current rig is 20 pounds, and it only goes to 15 pounds. Sadly, I don't have $4000 for a bigger model.

Easyrigs are great, but sadly you will need one to hold the 20 pound rig so more money to outlay.

I have an older model of this thing and it has been working fine. There is no reason for a vest with an arm and a spring inside to cost $4000. A friend of mine also has one (I have been using it for now 3 years) and both of us have been quite satisfied. YMMV.
