  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Easyrig group buy anyone?

I love the Easyrig.

I used it allot with Varicam's & CineAlta's. I must say it's not a Steadicam but it's great for long handheld / shoulder mount shots.
Count me in as well.

Thanks for the info.

Count me in I've used it a lot of times and it often comes in handy. (...) fredrik

Count me in, I've got a client very interested in it and itd save renting

I'm totally in!

I'm in (International user, from Italy)!

Still have to decide if lighter or heavier setup ... what's exactly the drawbacks of using the heavier loadable one when using a setup lighter than 30lbs ?

Ken, please count me in as well.

Thank you for looking into this for us.

Same here.

Since I got shot, I do like to try and keep the weight off my shoulder, so I also look in to the easyrig.

The strongest suggestion I can make to any one interested in this great product, is to carefully considered the total weight of their camera set up.

I know that because of my F$@$@# UP knee I will also try and keep the weight as low as possible.

For the easyrig to operate as smooth as it can be operated the weight needs to be as close as possible to the weight reported when ordered as they will make the tensioned cable to the exact specs that you will provide.

It is suggested that you should be making the easyrig preferebly to the weight of your lighter camera configuration rater then the heavier one.

As to make my self clear:

A) If camera package is always 30lb get the easyrig set @ 30lb.

B) If the camera package is @ times 20lb and @ times 25lb then get the easyrig setup for 20lb (the lowest configuration weight) as this way the camera pulling remains smooth and you will only be carrying the extra 5lb on your shoulder.

But as has been already said here, you can't get the easyrig setup for 25lb and then load a 20lb camera, aas it will be very uncomfortable to have to pull on the extra weight with your arms, especially for long periods of times.

The weight of your camera set up must be as close as possible to that of the easyrig setup you will be ordering, but if the total weight of your camera setup it is not always the same, do to any reason, such as using heavier lenses and such, then it is better to order the easyrig set for the lighter configuration and you will be carrying the extra weight on your shoulder, and still as explained, much better to carry on occasions the little extra weight then have to carry the all weight all the time on your shoulder.

So what I'm trying to explain here is that I too will be very pleased to be part of this group buy, but each will have a different setup to order as to fit their individual needs for weight configurations, and I'm sure that they will be many rigs configured to the same weight, but they will be nonetheless various configurations in the 20lb, 25lb and 30lb.

Ciao

Who rents these in Los Angeles?

Who rents these in Los Angeles?

My back wants one, but I'd like to rent before I buy.

Thanks

I was in contact with Jeff today about the group buy. He's waiting to hear back from the manufacturer about what kind of deal can be made. I'll keep you posted when I hear back from them. It looks like there are about 11 folks interested in this buy. The more there are the better the deal will be (at least I hope so!). So if you are interested in getting an Easy Rig for your Red camera for handheld work...let me know.

I'd be interested but I need to pull the trigger in the next week - on this, or through B&H.

I need to shoot with it May 15. If this wonderful idea can't meet that then I'll have to decline.

BTW is there any way to reconfigure the weight calibration on your own? Want to be able to go from HVX/adapter work now up to Red stuff later this year.

Thanks so much!

You are most welcome bodhi.

Everything is possible Ed, but it is a very tricky process, and this is why the seller, in this case 16x9, has to do it for you, also they are several extensions as well as clamps and such, to take in consideration.

When you buy from B&H you have what it is available on the listing, with no further adjustments done by them.

So I hope for you that you can be part of this group buy, to be able to better fit your rig.

ciao

I am definitely interested, let me know price and purchase window.

After looking in to the mechanics of it and the system it self, there is a simple solution to those that need to have the rig for different camera weights setups.

Basically if you have a rig setup for 30lb but then used it with a 25lb camera setup, simply pull down the camera to the desired position, then apply a clamp on to the cord were it meets the tubing, in this way the cord will remain locked and you will not find yourself pulling down on the extra weight.

To consider that the more the weight difference the more stress will be put by the clamp to the cord, so careful not to go too many LB in difference, and also use a clamp with good rubber teeth.

Ciao

I just heard back from James Lee at 16x9. So, it looks like the discount they'll give us is on the new model of the EasyRig, which begins at a higher price point as you can see below.

Here is their offer:

For a order of 10 or more we can offer the group a price of $2700.00 ea. for a 700-3 or 600-3 .

These units will come with the new double breasted Cinema vest and a special large camera hook that will work best with the Red handle.
The weight capacity range are:
· Easy Rig 600-3 26-35 lbs .
· Easy Rig 700-3 33-44 lbs.

The regular purchase price for these Rigs are $2995.00.

Thanks cinewalt,

The new models, are the only ones any one should go with it anyway, as they are far better in construction and offer more stabilization.

just do remember to get the cameras setup as closely figure out as possible as the weight should be as close as possible to that of the configured rig you'll buy.

Alexis has the correct information. I also received an email from Jeff at 16X9. Here's the meat of it:
"Hi Ken, Well we have finally heard back from Johan at Easy Rig. Here is the deal.
For a order of 10 or more we can offer the group a price of $2700.00 ea. for a 700-3 or 600-3 . These will have the new double breasted Cinema vest and a special Phillips hook that will work best with the Red handle.
The weight capacity range are: Easy Rig 600-3 26-35 lbs . Easy Rig 700-3 33-44 lbs.
The regular sell price for these Rigs are $2995.00."

So if you are interested in this deal which is basically $300 off, let's decide if Alexis is the point man or I am. I'm willing to go ahead with putting this together. If I'm going to be the guy coordinating, please PM me so I have a solid list of those who want in and we can take it from there.

What is the purchase window for this? No one should have to be 'point man', you should just be able to contact 16x9 directly and mention the RedUser group buy. Please talk to them and make it that easy.

Well, it's a matter of consolidating at least 10 orders for the folks at 16x9, I think. My guess is no purchase window.

Ken - I'm glad to hand you the reigns for this! I like that we're both chomping at the bit to make this happen... (Yes, 2 horse metaphors)
