  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EasyRig Group Buy - Any Interest?

Easyrig alternative?

Easyrig alternative?

A much cheaper alternative that should be equal in quality to the Easyrig. I Will give full details and review once it is received. The man behind this Easyrig is a badass and he makes some awesome stuff :)

Any update to the Easyrig alternative? Sounds like it would generate some much-needed competition.

I am interested to sign up for the Cinema 3 (up to 55 lbs)

We are in the process of working out a few kinks. It's pretty awesome though and much cheaper! ;)

Actually there is already 2/3..1/2..even 1/10th the price cheaper competition out there.
People just aren't aware of them for some reason.

Walter Klassen has Gore-Link that attached to steadicam arm so
one can boom up and down on the arm and yet be in a hand held mode

Interested in the easyrig

Yes, but the easyrig is the perfect helper for Movi's, BeSteadies, Gravity One and other brushless gimbals. Well for most of the camera moves.

There are no other manufacturers that build something like the Easyrig, unfortunatly.

ZeroG is on hold and it was the only really similar system.
The Atlas is not on the same league.

I have the only ZeroG in existence. It is pretty awesome, I just don't use it enough unfortunately as I mainly use super light setups most of the time and shoot mostly Reality TV on C300s....and can't afford to wear an easyrig or my zerog as I need to move fast and get into tight places quick. It's kind of a crime that it is just sitting in my office :(. If some one feels they could really utilize it and needs it hit me up and maybe we can work something out....

I would also be interested in a easyrig alternative. But fear it's not there. Does anyone know why the discontinued the vario and now it's only the 2.5 or 3 for a bit heavier setups.

Ha, no thanks, I'd run into everything! ;)

Same as you would with an easy rig... :)

Well, not exactly, but if holding a Gimbal wide mode, unless is the Ronin in the side way mode, then you'll still have to take in to account the Arm width to go thru any doors etc.

Ketch this is made for Klassen vest. I hope you know that this means that you either need to have a Klassen vest either because you a a steadicam operator , or buy one, that costs together with the sling shot 7900 usd.

I use to rent one that eventually fitted my body size as those are made to order for best, when I was operating steadicam, never liked it that much, too bulky and heavy but comfortable. bUt the back mount wider arm for the steadicam was many times hitting narrow doors on the side as well.

secondly you cannot in any way go through doors with this thing in high mode, not even eye level, cause the arms will hit the door above if you are anything taller than 5,8 . They are extending way to high for this. Look at the guy the lens is eye level, and look at the arms.
last you cannot go very low mode unless you bent your knees.

the easyrig even with the serene is not as tall, and you can go through doors with out a problem. And together with the serene is almost half the price

if the easyrig is not for you its understandable, but your statements are not exactly correct for the easy rig.. I have 2 easyrigs with 4 different arms and serenes on to prove this.
And I can go from above eye level to very low mode with a gimbal with no problem either.

Yes I know Constantine... :)

It is pricey for sure, but fact is that remains surely way better then the Easy Rig, and that the Easy Rig to be half decent needs to be used with either the G1 or Serene, which btw are Fantastic products, I just really dislike the Easy Rig all together!!

The Walter Klassen Vest and new Double arms as picture shows above, can and it has been used to go thru doors, as the arms are free in their tilt rotational movement and can and will go down depending on how low or high you are keeping or holding the Gimbal or Camera rig, so NO problem going thru a door.

My statements were made based on my experience with it, I I simply would not recommend it to any one period... But if there was no other choice because of financials and or availability and the end user had to use an Easy Rig, I would immediately tell them to get a Hold of the G1 and or the Serene to make sure that they got to work with a BETTER system then the Easy Rig alone could ever be!!

BTW Constantine, have you tried or know if your G1 & Serene will work with the Zero-G??

I know it is very similar to the Easy-Rig, but I am eager to try it out hoping it will perform way better for me then the Easy Rig, but I might still see the use of the G1 and or the Serene as a most beneficial in the combination here too.

Edit, I thought you were talking about the atlas rig and not the cinema oxide. No I dont think it will make anything better useing industrial rope devices to solve the problem of the string, and I cant see why this copy can work better than the easy rig, but have a go.

About the easyrig. First of all like every other body mounted harness, and believe me I have tested all of the available vests in my steadicam years, all except the AP back mount, but in anyway, it takes time to get used to it. It takes daily continues use to appreciate what it does for you and how it does it. It takes time for your body to adjust on ANY harness.

The best example is this. Get the best steadicam components Walter Klassen, or , the latest steadicam vests, and wear it and add on a steadicam for the first time. The very first hour you will discover that this is an evil machine abusing your back musculus, or your back, or your hips, and feel like a tyrannosaurus trying to abuse your body. You need to get used to it, and your body needs to get used it it, and that doesnt happen over a few hours or even a few days of continues use.

What Iam saying is , that you need to have extended use of something that messes with your body and apply forces to it, to be able to tell if its finally something beneficial or not.
Even going from vest to vest takes time for your body to adjust, as the forces are never applied the same way from vest to vest.

Even the klassen vest for sure stated to be the best, for some people does not feel right, and Iam one of them, because Iam pretty small body size and that thing was enormous on me and very bulky. After many times using it I started get used to it and start seeing benefits but it still didnt feel like a runner, as it was to bulky to move.
What Iam saying is, something might not be good for one body structure can be good for another.
As about the easyrig imitation called the extender it was a beast and though the vest priced at the time for around 6k was comfortable the total rig was not feeling right to me, and certainly missed the target of ENG long talking shots that easyrig shines.

Now this slingshot to go through doors at eye level, at any configuration adjustment of the dual arms, shorter or longer, you need to have the arms going up very high for the lens to be able to be at eye level, and at least at normal path ways you will have trouble. So this is mostly possible in medium ,lower lens shots. It pretty obvious from the picture and Iam being very objective about this. Low mode and over extension of the cords is not possible so basically low mode is not easily achievable, specially on one solid transition from high to low mode.

Over all, easyrig is a great shooter platform that with minimum space we can apply all adaptations and make it work really well, havng a very reasonable size shooter, and at the same time have 5 axis stabilization with a gimbal, while you can go from high over eye, to very low mode using the string, which BTW was originally patented from Johan over 20 years ago, and was copied from WK adapted to their vests and system.

There is more. When we are able to show case our USA patent of our gimbals controller and the Gravity One Extended at IBC, then you will be able to put all the puzzle together and see the new idea of stabilization, making sense in the way you move .

Thanks for reading such a long post.

EDIT> just for the record you need a gimbal to work with the sling shot too. and you cannot work with a single camera if needed.

best regards
