  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Easy rig vs Ready Rig

For the Ready Rig users - anyone have a good setup for converting the ready rig into easyrig style handheld use?
I've seen the rigs Cinemilled makes, and some DIY options that other users have made with bars, caribeneers etc
Looking for more examples

I haven't had a chance to test this much but I think I found a pretty good solution using the Simmod S2 kong frog with both Ready Rig arms attached. Using both arms keeps the harness from pulling to one side.

Eric. . . can you post a picture of your revised ReadyRig set-up? It sound intriguing.

Thanks.

The new ready rig Vega upgrade looks interesting

Jake. . . I wrote to them yesterday about it, actually. They say it will be shipping in about six to eight weeks.

Are many people using the Stabil G2 with the easy tilt with their gimbals now? Thinking about making the switch from ready rig and all I'm hearing is good reviews. A few people mentioned its harder to get the height with easy rigs but it seems the G2 version has addressed that?

I am fairly new to the game, but I find that the Easyrig Minimax has been one of the greatest investments into film equipment I've made. It may not have the highest payload capacity, but it can take a beating and keep going, and fits in seamlessly with a lot of small to larger productions. The readyrig is great, It came with a ronin 2 rental on a shoot i did and it works great with a gimbal but as far as versatility, both are fore different styles of shooting. The easyrig is perfect for a locked off or handheld look, and can also hold gimbals albeit not as stable imo. The Readyrig on the other hand is perfect for gimbal usage and if it's just gimbal work you do, then go for it.
