So I just got my Easy Rig 3 a few days ago and today I had my first shoot with it. It was a 7 hour straight, no resting day of shooting man on the street in downtown seattle. Not only did the easy rig alow me to never once have to set the camera down for 7 hours, but at the end of the day I still felt great and ready to go another 7. Now here's the kicker. 2 months ago I herniated a disc in my lower back. It has been causing so much pain down my leg (sciatic nerve) that I can barely walk some days. Not only did the easy rig take all of the weight off of my back, my lower back even, but when I took off the vest I still had no pain. I'm not saying the easy rig cured me, now that I have been sitting again some pain is back, but it sure did save my career. Seriously, if your still hand holding the Red, check out the Easy Rig.
Thanks so much to Michael Ibanez from 16x9 Inc for the excellent Red user discount.

Hey guy, I feel your pain (literally). I had a dislocated disc about fifteen years ago. I went to a chiropractor who had some other specialties too. He had a traction machine that sort of rolled underneath the hips repeatedly, like a motorized repeating conveyor kind of thing. I don't know what it's called besides "traction." Anyway, the disc went back into place, and it's fine now.

Definitely do something, or the nerve damage will be permanent. And surgery sucks.

Stephen,

What weight camera pole did you order and what kind of accessories do you use on the RED. I am not exactly sure which unit weight to order.

Also, what size vest did you order? Are happy with the fit? What jacket size are you? (not going to buy you clothing, just sizing the vest) :)

I have been going to the doctor for the last two months, have gone through physical therapy, bought a teeter hang ups for traction, and on Friday I go in to have an S1 nerve root block (should be fun). We'll see what happens.
I ordered the 600, 25-35lbs. My camera was weighing in at 34lbs:
Red, Rods, 18-50 Mattebox, viewfinder, Red Drive and battery, plus a couple ND's. i was told that it is better to undershoot your weight than over. If you get the 700 and your camera doesn't weigh enough you are constantly pulling it down. With the 600 my camera floats where I put it.
I ordered the standard size vest, although I wear a LG/ XLG jacket, the vest fits great.

hey Stefan, we worked together a few years back on the Norm Sanders flick. Did you buy a Red?

I'm also a recent Easyrig convert, absolutely amazing. I'd also recommend the Mantis, those two together are an amazing combo

Thanks Stefan!

That's exactly the info I needed!

Hey Shawn, I remember you from the shoot. Yeah, I bought a Red back in November. I will have to check out the mantis as well, although i pretty happy with the performance of the Easyrig by itself.
