I calibrated a new 27" imac with idisplay pro, the panel is really awesome covering 97.6% of DCI colors.. its the best ever mac screen.
letting that alone, everything else on the machine is way behind tech.. even if you get yourself an external gpu.. it won't help much as the gpu performance will be affected by the 5x pcie speed of thunderbolt3 .. it makes a huge different when you start going beyond hd resolution.
to conclude its a waste of money and time if you rely on these machine for daily use and/or for heavy lifting.
if you need mobile performance get a gaming laptop with a gtx 1080 built in.
