DZO's High-End Cine Prime Killers? - DZO Arles Lens Review

BY CVP

Was curious how the lenses and camera looked, so had a play with the footage the uploaders of this video made available.

Haven't looked at any footage from the Canon EOS C70 since this sample footage from the time of its release -

Am left with the same impression as before, that shot with care, the camera is capable of capturing some nice imagery.

I like the DZOFilms Arles Prime lenses too.

Here are three grades of the test footage, the colours of the first one being more muted, the second one being more saturated, and the third a lighter B&W look -

Here are the same clips, cropped to a widescreen aspect ratio, just to see how it looked -

Thanks to the uploaders of the original video for making the test footage available and to Rand for linking to it.

Les Yeah,

There's not alot of footage from the Dzofilm Arles out there currently but I'm sure more video samples will become available over the next few weeks and months. I'm also looking for Canon C400 sample footage. However I don't think Canon nor anyone whom has used the camera will make sample footage available due to the camera still being in Pre- Production. So maybe after September when the camera is Officially released there will be sample gradeable footage available for download.

Here's a video that uses the Canon R5C that shoots in 8K with the Dzofilm Arles 40mm f1.4. I didn't think the 40Mm was available yet, just the 25,35,50,75 and 100mm. But maybe the 40mm is available in this country.

Here's another video from Thailand showing the Arles 40mm in direct comparison to some other lenses (shot on the RED V-Raptor 8K VV no less), so they must be out there in some form or another.

Nice looking lens.

Yeah, Les I was going to post that video as well but not at all confident in the existence of the 40mm yet. But like you said maybe in this part of the world it is available whereas a 50mm may not be.
