Quick question: What is the dynamic range of Super 35 celluloid film?
ARRI claims a dynamic range of 13.5 stops with their Alexia.
According to wik, "Red specifies the sensor's signal to noise ratio at greater than 66 dB,[2] with 11.3 stops of total dynamic range." (here). (I do not know if this refers to the updated Mysterium X sensor).
In an article here, the author says there's not much difference in dynamic range of Super 35 and these digital cinema cameras.
I do not know what a "signal to noise ratio at greater than 66 dB" looks like, but I am wondering how many stops celluloid film has when measured in a similar way, so can be compared to these cameras.
Thanks.
