Hi Guys,

the friendly gents at Panavision Australia let me have a play with their new baby, the DXL 2 camera and a set of Artiste Prime lenses last week and I thought I'd share some of the footage.

This was by no means a scientific or technical test. I'm not a fan of shooting charts on end. I basically took the camera outside and treated it the way I handle my Epic-W for my motion stills shoots.

What can I say, this camera is nothing short of amazing. The menu is simple and intuitive and everyone who is used to shooting RED will have no issues operating this camera.

What the guys at RED, Panavision and Michael from Light Iron have done is nothing short of amazing. My footage cant even come close to doing this beast justice.

The footage at ISO 1600 is squeaky clean and those Panavision Artiste lenses are simply to die for. Extremely sharp yet a very creamy texture to it. Beautiful flare characteristics too. Built in motors for zoom and focus, whisper quiet yet very light compared to other primes in that class.

Here are some motion samples:

and pulled stills from the footage:

Awesome write up Dom! Couple quick questions:

Were you able to use the lenses on your helium?
Long shot, but any chance for a couple .r3d frames?
