Hi there...

I bought a BT Red One MX (mint condition, few hours) last year..., everething fine with shorts shoots; but when a tried to record longer shoots -like interviews-; it start to record duplicated media...
It supposed that the camera save the media inside a folder, every file corresponding with a "take".
In example, if i shoot an interview of 10 minutes (no matters what resolution or redcode); the camera creates a folder with 4 or 6 files inside (some times 9, depends on the duration of the take), and every file is the "same" file (with his own "take" code), with the first 5 minutes of the interview recorded and the same file size, except for the last file, that is smaller than the others and have the same information (very weird). So, the remaining parts of the interview are lost. I dont know whats wrong :ack2:... the magazine?, the media settings?... me???

There is nothing being duplicated.

The contents of the folder is the "take". Each chunk is a part of the take, once the file size reaches a certain size, a new file chunk is created and recording continues. The take continues on in the next file chunk until it fills and another file chunk is created. This continues until you've cut.

Opening any of the chunks/segments in the take using an R3D aware viewer or tool causes the tool to scan the folder for all the pieces in the take, and it will do the right thing for you: regardless of if you pick a chunk at the beginning, end or middle, it'll handle them all as one linked chain of files that contain your take.

There is no duplicate data, each chunk contains unique image data. Break the chain, and you break your take.

FAT 32 is limited to 4GB files which is the reason of multiple files. If you transfer just 1 sub file & open it you will realise the take is incomplete.
