Duplicate timecodes in red cine

Hi,

I'm getting a really strange problem with some Red camera files, some of the shots have exactly the same timecode.

I'm using Time of Day TC but every so often the time seems to go back a few mins so the next shot has the same TC as the end of the shot before.

We've been trying to work out an avid workflow based on matching shots by name and TC, we nearly got it to work but this duplicate TC has given us a problem.

Has anyone seen this before?

Did you shoot these clips in Varispeed ?

Yes, almost all the shots were at varispeed but the problem only happened 3 times on a two day shoot.

So i guess if you shoot at high frame rates using Time of Day TC then you send the camera into the future and when you start your next shot it returns back to the present?

If you overcrank, you are correct, that becomes a possibility.

If you are doing a lot of that, and this is causing a post issue, you might want to reference EDGE CODE instead.
