Dumb Weapon Question

This seems like a dumb question, but I see that the Base Expander module is still "coming soon". So how are people with Weapon getting SDI out of the camera, rolling audio into the cam, powering via wall adapter, etc.?

they are available with the Weapon kits, just not being sold as individual parts until they can ramp up inventory (is my guess).

in some past releases, when accessories were in short supply, people started buying and hoarding them before their cameras were delivered, leaving those with cameras without the necessary bits. I'm sure they are trying to prevent that situation.

I have also the problem not having the Base Expander yet, is somebody knows when they will start to send it as individual part? The same for the LCD 7".

Yeah, Scarlet Weapon brains are shipping soon but no one is going to be able to use them if the expanders aren't shipping... (Unless you steal one off a weapon...)

I think we're in a similar situation with the 3rd party modules. We've been told for months that many of them will ship before the cameras, but it's starting to look rather glum. I'm trying my best to remain optimistic, but with the products not even finalized, it's a bit hard to believe that they'll be shipping within 3-4 weeks.

Just saw the "omod" which is third party with 3x sdi outs, but it looks like they're still waiting for audio boards to complete the product.

There are numerous third party manufacturers announcing modules (or DSMC2 accessories). Some of which include OffHollywood (the OMOD line which has I/O), Action products (also has I/O), Element Technica, Wooden Camera, Movcam, etc.

ET has a cableless power solution, which could get you up and running at least. It's not full I/O, but I felt it couldn't hurt to list 3rd party manufacturers that have been announcing DSMC2 support (I specifically put in brackets which offer full I/O modules).

As far as availability goes, then you're correct that none are shipping today (except the ET power), however some are slated to ship before the cameras (for instance OMOD is slated to ship in February before the cameras). Whether or not that actually happens remains to be seen.
