Does the REDmote-less camera come with any kind of cover for the REDmote mount and contacts on the back of the camera? Every picture I've seen posted of the backside of a SCARLET looks shockingly naked. I'd be a tad worried about tangling with those contacts and zapping something. Obviously, a bit of tape could substitute...

Nope. There are a few solutions though, such as Wooden Camera's quick back, or a couple users have posted plastic caps they're manufacturing.

Ian's suggestion is solid, Wooden Camera Quick Back is a good cover. Otherwise, the entire camera has a solid build and feels far more durable than anything even remotely comparable. Should be good to go either way, but certainly wouldn't hurt to get the cage and quick back around it.

Whhhh? Sorry Ian. But, stop press! I'm away now, so I can't check for 100% certainty, but I'M PRETTY DAMN SURE that the grey plate that came with my Scarlet is the back cover.
Sure I saw this on someone elses unboxing vid too. I didn't bother unwrapping/testing mine as I already had a quick back to install (love that thing).

Hey Lliam, The grey plate that comes with the Scarlet is the cover for where the SSD Mag Reader is installed. If there is ever a need to remove the SSD Mag reader, you would use that plate to cover the interface/gap left behind ;)

Ohhhhh it's a scythe. Sorry Folks. As you were.
I just thought you would always have the SSD reader on - so must be a backplate.
Cheers John :)

Best

Thanks Aaron for starting this thread, yesterday I was scouring the web for photos of Scarlet's backside in order to answer this very question. Wooden Camera will be getting an order...

...Ordered...
