So I ordered the Duclos lens caps for my RPPs, and inquired to Michelle about the possibility of a lens cap for my RP300mm and a support bracket. Unfortunately there were none, and Duclos did not have a 300mm RP to make the cap or bracket...well take mine. So, they did, and apparently it is all done. I will be getting my 300 support bracket and new lens cap on Monday....so to any of you guys with the Red Pro 300mm - give Duclos a call and inquire about their new lens cap (which if it is anything like the RPPs caps it will be excellent) and support bracket for the 300mm!

Thanks to Michelle and everyone at Duclos for being so focused (no pun intended) in getting this done with the high standard we associate with your company!

Wanna post a picture / short review of their bracket. I'm using the Zacuto lens support right now and while their bridge mount is great, the actual lens support is just so-so. Uses one of their z-bands or zip-gears or whatever they call them, fancy name for reusable zip-tie, to fasten around the lens.

1.Do the lenses come without caps or with sub par caps? Surely you must be kidding???!!!!
2. I am extremely happy with my Tokina/Duclos 11-16mm, so loving Duclos.

3 Zacuto makes a few nice semi pro bits(Quick release mounts for my red arm and the finder for DSLRs come to mind)But their wild overpricing and the STUPID ANNOYING names, together with a self indulgent tone in the marketing, really puts me off.

The RPP caps are kind of a hard rubber or flexible plastic. They're just fine, but there's a chance that if the case gets jostled enough, or if something hits the lens cap, it could flex enough to touch the front element. So Duclos is offering a set of replacement caps that are delrin and don't flex.

Yes, I love my Duclos Tokina 11-16. One of the best lens purchases I've ever made.

I agree about Zacuto marketing and ztupid namez. They advertise to forums by zpamming them. Some of us mods busted them here a few times and they apologized and supposedly were going to come onboard as legit sponsors. That never happened. They have this real arrogance about them. Some of their stuff is nice and useful, some of it is pure crap and some just serves no purpose. Their pricing is totally ridiculouz too in most cases.

One of the worst Zacuto projects is the the Zacuto Jeep. Let's just forget for a moment that they should be sued for the name on that. But it's less functional for its intended purpose than a roll of good duct tape.

Some lens caps from a few manufacturers (so this is not picking on RED) are made from either a soft plastic or a thin plastic that cap bend to the point of physical contact with the front element of the lens it is meant to protect. Duclos caps are thick Delrin plastic that will not bend and will never come into contact with the glass. We have them on all our Angenieux zooms.

Available for purchase from Abel Cine Tech.
