  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'm due an upgrade, mostly for space considerations, and had a thought about a configuration which I'm not entirely sure is possible. I currently have a 128gb SSD as my OS drive, running both Windows and Linux, and a single 500gb HDD for everything else. The plan is to add 2 x 2tb in a raid0 config to replace the 500gb (the 500gb being demoted to a back-up, for the meantime) and another 128gb SSD to serve as a scratch disk. My question is, could one install an OS each in the SSDs and assign the other as its scratch or cache disk? So: Windows in SSD#01, scratch disk being SSD#02; Linux in SSD#02 and its scratch disk being SSD#01. These are quick and early considerations and if it looks like I'm making a mess of it all, it's because I don't really know that much about building editing rigs (well, apart from building my own humble rig, which almost anyone can do anyway). I have a better idea of the amount of drive space I will be needing, but not of the most effective way to implement it. Hoping I could get some guidance from folks here.

Regards,
J
