So I've got a brand new red one all set up and a small HD monitor but the 12V battery for my monitor is toast. Im looking into buying a DTap cable to power the monitor from the camera battery. But in the mean time I'm considering trying to build a DTap cable to get shooting.

The problem is that it appears the camera battery delivers 14.8V whereas the battery that came with the monitor is 12V. Should I be concerned about damaging my monitor?

As David suggested - most battery operated monitors will accept a range of voltages. Some are labelled by the DC input socket on the monitor itself. If not, look in the users manual, or find the manual online and look at the specifications.

For what its worth....I've used the TV Logic 5.6" as well as various other on board monitors with all sorts of Anton Bauer, and V Mount batteries off a D-Tap Cube with no issues over the last year.
