has anyone figured out a sturdy mounting solution for the DSMC3 touch screen atop the Raptor, that still allows for the Komodo outrigger handle to be used atop?

this SmallHD mounting arm is driving me crazy. i'd be excited to see what setups any of you have cooked up!

I’ve just pulled the 15mm attachment off of the monitor and am using a Noga arm to support it. I’m using the 39” RMI cable to make this work, though a 20” cable would be amazing.

I've seen people mount the DSMC3 touch a variety of ways. Main two paths are using the 15mm clamp that is included at the base or removing it to mount directly to the display. Removing it allows for somewhat typical cine arm/noga/etc mounting.

When using the 15mm mount any 15mm rod will do. There's ways to mount them horizontally, attach them to arms, use right angle adapters, etc.

I'm a big fan of the previous cableless DSMC2 monitors and their position, so I've been mainly using it exactly where the plate keeps it mainly. Had a neat 15mm 4 incher that I can mount to the side of the camera that was interesting to use. Worked out a neat shoulder setup I'll post soon-ish.

On a related note I'm completely baffled that SmallHD is refusing to make a screen protector for this. I've called them about it several times, spoken to several people, and they have stated that they no plans to make one. How idiotic is that?

Don't know who at SmallHD said that....

But there are two screen protectors that fit this display as far as I know:

UltraClear Screen Protector (Smart 7 Monitor Series) - ACC-SP-702TOUCH-ULTRACLEAR
https://smallhd.com/products/ultraclear-screen-protector-smart-7

Ultra Matte screen protector for 702 Touch and CINE 7 monitors - ACC-SP-702Touch-Matte
https://smallhd.com/products/ultra-matte-screen-protector-for-702-touch-and-cine-7-monitors

Also, and more of a personal thing, I don't use protection on these modern displays with hardened glass.

Just to backup what Phil said - the screen protector for the Cine 7 is the same size and fits the DSMC3 monitor perfectly. I’ve got it on mine and forget that it’s there.

Yup, Cine7 is the one I have on my DSMC3 monitor. Fits like a glove. Although, it's already cracked somehow - those things are fragile as eggshells. Think I will pull it off and not use one any more.
