So I usually capture external audio, but I had to use my V-lock expander to capture audio. my first discovery is that you can't use any stereo mics, only mono aka unbalanced. Which I don't understand why? 2nd you can only monitor your audio through channel 1-2. If you have a mic attached and have it set to channel 3-4 you can't hear any audio. Why? Can someone please chime in?

You can use stereo mics who power it selfs and you can hear channel 3 and 4. Take a look at the manual and see the menu for audio mix headphone.
