  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Jarred, Brent, I believe very much that you made the right choice. Not only because it feels clearer now as a customer, but I really had Apple’s portfolio before Steve Jobs came back in mind, where the RED portfolio went. Now it’s become a clear path which makes a lot of sense, especially when comparing the - as you said - bloated prices.

There has always been backfire during upgrade season. And I know (although of course you won’t be able to please everyone) you’ll try as hard as possible to do right by everyone as much as possible. Jarred, your reaction about the CF customers proves just that for me.

So thanks for showing that you care, that you try to improve and that you’re trying to find a way to keep the prices down. With the weapon path, the camera prices seemed to continuously go sky high compared to the earlier days. So thank you for giving this back to the customers (as you of course could’ve kept the margin by keeping the prices up). I feel for the ones who paid a lot for the premium brains lately, but I know you got our backs as much as you can.

Keep up the spirit. I hope that this move pays out for you guys in the end. After all, I want RED to stay. And I want to stay in the RED system as long as possible. Thank you!

- on a side note : what will happen to Scarlet and Raven in the long run? Are these meant to stay at their respective price point areas?
 
Thanks Jarred, it means a lot to hear, and I didn't doubt you will take care of us. Seeing the news this morning did raise some concerns as I still owe quite a bit on mine, more than buying one new to be specific;)

I certainly wasn't complaining about it before, doesn't change the fact I have a great rig that I can shoot with today. Moving to WH was probably one of the most awesome decisions in my career, I don't regret it one bit.
But for those of us who invested into a CF Helium, we will appreciate having a nice option because with the increase of DSMC2 Heliums I'm sure it will affect the market rates.

I think it will come at perfect timing, as I'm so ready for my next move.. thanks for all that you do!

Thanks Jarred looking forward to it. For what it's worth, I think whether you followed the upgrade path to get into a CF Weapon, or bought it outright, the love should be the same. Trading in my Epic to get into the CF Weapon was no less of a push for me financially than if I'd purchased it outright. My Epic represented equity. I could have kept it and used as my second camera, sold it to a 3rd party, or traded it's value towards the new camera directly through RED. I chose the later. You guys created an option that basically allowed us to trade it in, which was awesome, and saved me the time of listing and selling myself. I might have been able to get more for camera from a third party sale, but I valued the time saved more than the potential added return. There was still a lot of value in that camera and I used it towards getting a newer one. And I was stoked. Still am. Regardless, I think however RED owners have approached getting into a CF Weapon, the equity is the same. That's my take.

I own a CF 6K Dragon. I was already planning on moving to the Gemini Sensor before this announcement, and I don't think this changes anything for me. That's the sensor that makes the most sense for me. But, by the time that's settled, I'll be 55K into a camera that you can now buy for 20K. But it is what it is. And it's all good. This camera and what I do with it has opened a lot of doors for me and it will continue to do so. Whuuuuuurd.
 
I Own both ARRI and RED. When the LF was announced with ZERO upgrade program I felt the same way some of you do towards ARRI, but it was much worse because I know I need to buy a whole new camera again. When that camera starts really shipping us ARRI SXT owners are not going to be happy. RED is the opposite, they always take care of the ones that have faith in them. I am hoping that Jarred and Brent will give us Weapon owners a good price to Monster sensor upgrades for this big change, maybe half price from what the old $20k upgrade price just to make us happy. Maybe they can't and that is too much to ask for. But I do agree with many people here, the price change is big and that would make me happy again, even though honestly I am not that very upset.

Same sensor, just with the Weapon brain instead of Epic-W brain it had before.

Really, does this "end of June" now mean a 5 week wait ?

I wanted to order a Gemini, but need a camera faster than 5 weeks. Jarred, will this shorten to the normal 2 -3 weeks delivery by mid-June?

The only free Gemini version, is for “Epic-W GEMINI” owners. They get their Gemini Epic-W brain internals upgraded to Weapon spec for free.

The old ( yesterday ) price was $29k but you are probably barking up the right tree . Something we can do is offer a healthy discount to Weapon Helium owners ( and yes that includes you MG guys and girls ) that want to move to Monstro VV.. but this will only work for the current inventory we have... the good and bad news on this pricing transparency is that each product needs to stand on its own in pricing and the next batch of Monstro sensors will need to be priced accordingly or the whole thing falls down. Give us 24 hours to figure something out and then contact your rep.

As for owners of VV that recently paid full price... we will take care of you a different way. For those that upgraded to Monstro from a killer deal along the way... in the spirit of being fair you already had your golden ticket so just enjoy the ride, and apologize that it can get a bit bumpy along the way :)
