I bought the V-LOCK I/O Expander from Ethan two weeks ago. He is a trustworthy guy just putting that out there. He took the time to come into my apartment, hook up the expander to his camera, show me that it worked, etc. So I feel it necessary to back him up here since he came through for me.

GUYS: Quit throwing mud. I've been on here for years and I have a perfect 19 year record on Ebay.

Ethan is an honest dude. I've bought many things from him. He words things that may seem off, but it's a translation issue. You got a problem with Ethan, you got a problem with me too.

Chill. Don't say things that you don't KNOW are true. Crying wolf on here only makes you look stupid, and Amateur.

Scott and Chris, thanks so much for stepping in to put in a good word for Ethan! That goes a long ways!

Ethan, best of luck on selling the items. And feel free to edit your original post to add an asking price.

In my relatively short time on this board (about a year), I've seen a remarkable amount of premature whistleblowing. If you're going to call someone out for suspicious behavior on a public forum that uses people's REAL NAMES, you better be damn sure you can back up your claim. You can easily ruin someone's reputation by casually dropping a "shady", "gotcha", etc. Other users see this and their impressions of the supposedly "shady" user will be strongly impacted. Let's all be careful not to jump the gun. If something doesn't look quite right to you, that doesn't mean there is something shady going on. At least PM the person and attempt to have a discussion with them before publicly accusing them of trying to run a scam.

That being said, self-policing is super important here because there are a ton of scumbags out there trying to take advantage of us. Thanks to everyone for looking out for the security of the community.

I just recieved a Motion Mount from Ethan. Good communication and quick shipment. Buy with confidence.

Also I feel the need to say Ethan is as honest as it gets. I almost backed out of this ridiculously good deal because of some unwarranted posts. Based on my experience, there's not a single bad thing I can say about Ethan.

I WON an auction from Ethan on ebay, it was for a zeiss 15mm for $1525. Great deal right? well...He reneg'd on the deal and cancelled the transaction.

Prior to that he was looking to sell the lens for $1900 to me via facebook. When I saw it listed on ebay I bid on it, not knowing it was his lens until I saw the pictures. I figure that if I'd get it a bit cheaper, sweet. I ended up winning the auction. After paying a day or two later, he cancelled the sale immediately. He had no clue that I personally won the auction so I messaged him on facebook and asked him why did he cancel the deal. He said that it was scratched on the glass during a rental and he would get it repaired and sell it to me for the same price in a week. I asked him for pictures of the scratch to which he ignored because I felt something was fishy, but I trusted that all would be well the following week. I messaged him a week later and he said that it was a total loss and that he's not able to offer me the lens anymore. I decided to just leave it as is because it was clear that whatever happened to the lens, I wasn't getting it. I looked at this feedback after and he did the same thing to 3 other people : http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...sspagename=VIP:feedback&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller

Few things:

1) Why put an item up for sale when its on a rental?
2) How do 4 items that may not be related get cancelled? The only thing they have in common besides being tech and photo gear is that they were sold LESS than what one would expect is normal going used rate. Dare I say it, a damn good deal and as a seller I would be bummed I got those prices on top of paying fees. This is MY assumption and not saying this is what happened, though I'd honestly be bummed losing that much money on a sale...though I'd still honor the auction.
3) I don't know what the actual truth is so all I can do is take him at his word. And from what he has said, it's pretty "SHADY" when 3 other people have the same complaint on eBay. Not people who haven't entered a transaction with him.

I wouldn't be as annoyed if this whole renegging dance didn't tie up my funds for a week. That's money I set aside to buy a lens that I missed on winning another auction since I didn't want to over extend AVAILABLE funds by bidding too much. I decided to not leave negative feedback and leave the issue alone as it wasn't worth it to get in a tiff with him over it. HOWEVER, when REDUSERs are saying that he's fully legit and that he's 100% trustworthy and the naysayers have no pony in the race, I had to speak up. I actually did (or attempted to) have a transaction with him. I'd much be on the side of the guys saying I got a great deal from him and the lens was in perfect condition but alas, I'm not. Cheers

ps. This isn't to say Ethan is a bad guy, I'm just laying out my experience and my assumptions. I could totally be off but seriously...a picture of the damaged lens would have put me at ease vs. ignoring the request and not addressing it. I'm glad that others have had a positive experience with him, at least he's not a scammer and that's important to establish!

Which is why following the forum rules and posting pics and prices and having a way of putting potential buyers' minds at ease about a potential purchase is so important. And the onus should be on the seller to provide it.

A bunch of people with very few posts on here and so with whom I have zero interaction with and therefore don't know vouching for him does not count I'm afraid, however well meaning they are being
