DSMC Side Handle Stuck

Earlier today I was trying to remove the side handle and the thumb screw jammed. After two turns it stopped and won't go any further. I can't get the side handle off as a result.

Any thoughts?

Selling this brain in a week or so, so I need this thing off!

UPDATE: Managed to force the thumbscrew and got it off. There was a small metal sliver inside, likely from a chipped gear in the mechanism. All is well.

Same Problem on RED DSMC1 Side Handle

Mine's been stuck since i first bough it second hand. Never bothered me till now. Want it off for gimbal work.
I've tried for ages to budge the hand screw but to no avail. Too scared to put all my might into it in case i break it.
Pretty sure i have the same problem with a chipped gear. After you budged it, was it still able to screw back on ??

Paul, did you try to push the sidehandle towards the brain when trying to loose the screw? This always worked for me.
