  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC Beta Build v6.4.24

I'm using the Epic-W beta firmware and I've run into the following issues:

1. After upgrading, fan settings reset back to 39°. I have to change the settings multiple times for the temperature I want for it to stick. I've had the same issue in the previous firmware.

2. I'm having issues with playback when the camera is set at 5K 96FPS. R3Ds don't play smoothly and I get black screen when I switch to ProRes on both the red monitor and the SDI out. Menu buttons still work.

When I switch back to 8K, the R3Ds play properly and the ProRes files work well.

3. In playback mode, I can see a line going down the middle of the screen when I enable edge mode.
 
Anyone know if baked in color is working for Prores now and in what capacities?

Just upgraded but I can't get ANY baked in color in Prores to work.

Do we get baked in color on the prores files we shoot as Proxy files along with the R3d??

Ahh, just got it to work. Had to set baked in color to rec709/sd
 
Epic-W bug:

Does not recognize Jetpack HDMI. It works with Base Expander though.
Will roll back to 6.4.23
 
Fixed intermittent media mount error

I tried the suggested secure format on my cards but I still get random mount errors multiple times a day sometimes having to wrap early because of it.

Is there any workarounds given not being able to record is such a major bug?

I installed the beta and ran a sensor calibration, which was successful. But now I occasionally get a little text box saying "Auto Calibration" on the bottom of the screen every now and then (maybe a few minutes apart between popping up). I did a full wipe of the camera and re-calibrated, and it still pops up. Is this a bug or is it something else I'm not realizing?
 
My issues with 6.4.24:

EF Lens Support is not as good - in terms of driving lens motors.

Wooden Camera Cable-Less Gold Mount battery plate doesn't show voltage or percentage - this is a major problem... voltage I can live with, percentage would be incredible - no info - Perilous.

It has unfortunately been like this since the 1st Beta for IPP2. I hope that it'll be fixed when it gets out of Beta...
 
I just had a issue where the card shows up blank on my computer. But shows up fine on camera?

This is just informing you that the auto calibration is recalculating and applying. It is normal for this to occur somewhat frequently at boot as your camera comes up to operating temperature. This notification was added in 6.4 (that is, 6.3 just silently updated the calibration). During this process it is normal for the monitor feed to stall for a few frames and people were concerned something was wrong so we added the notification.

So Trent could this be why when shooting on 6.3.102 I have what seems to be the camera freezing frame for a brief second on the monitors, even though the camera is still recording or even when in standby and then the image continues like nothing happened? This occurs every now and then say you might see it after the camera is up and running only a couple times in 30 or so mins of operation? or is that probably something else?

Auto calibration is not updated while recording, only during what we call preview (standby). If you are seeing the monitors freeze while record is active it might be something else - you may want to file a support ticket just to make sure there isn't a problem. Support will want to know what kinds of monitors you are using, power source, etc. If you can catch the problem on video that would be helpful for them as well.

I'm assuming you don't see any problems in the recording when this occurs?
 
Turning on record audio notifications often causes the record/power button to not function - only way to power down is removal of battery. This was intermittent but often - record would work a couple times after a reboot before freezing at best.

The touch controls would freeze after rec pressed although picture would still be live.

Turning off audio record notifications everything worked normally.

Thank you, this issue has been identified and will be fixed in a future release. For now, the safest thing to do is to disable record sounds.
 
Still having a major issue with formatting cards to UDF and shooting ProRes. Clips work fine on camera but will not show up on any computer. Having to use a data recovery to pull files.

Camera has some other general mataince thing so it's at Red now being looked in to. And no never saw the issue while recording or on clips ever, so that makes sense about the auto black shade thingy.
