Sorry if this has been answered before, couldnt find anything.

Sending an 18-50 back to red for repair. FedEX refused to ship it without a "Drop Ball Test" certificate. This might be something everyone in the world knows about except me, but can someone help me out here?

What is it, and do I really need one?

Its an impact resistance test for lens elements which involves dropping a metal ball bearing on them. Its an FDA requirement for ophthalmic lenses(spectacles/eyewear) entering the country (USA).

Try telling Fedex that you're not shipping spectacles or spectacle lenses. I think they have a wrong idea about the kind of lens you're shipping.
