Hey there,

I am using an Hp dv5 laptop running Vista Home for data transfer on location and it won't see the Red Drive - well it does under disk Manager and states that the drive is not initialized

Thoughts, suggestions?

Thanks!

Whatever you do, don't initialize that drive.

You should plug it into a mac and if you can't see your files, then use REDundead from red.com/support to get your files. You might also try a R2E esata cable if Firewire or USB won't work.

Thanks for your replies.

I can see the Red Drive and access and transfer the files with any of my XP Pro systems. This seems to be exclusive to Vista or the laptop.

So it seems to be a firewire 400 issue. Tried the USB and all worked fine. Go figure. Would that be a driver issue?

BTW, didn't think to try the USB as it didn't work when I was playing find the Red Drive AC adapter. Thought I might have been chasing the wrong problem.

Thanks again!
