  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragons fps in 16:9 in 6k, 5k, 4k?

If you shoot 16:9, how many fps would you get from a dragon in 6k hd, 5k hd and 4k hd? Also if what kind of compression does it give?
 
Thanks then it should be
6k hd 75fps
5.5k hd 75fps
5k hd 96fps
4.5k hd 100 fps
4k hd 120 fps
 
Just always check your compression, go as low as you can. The higher the FPS the more apparent compression artifacts "chatter" in the scene. So if you can get away with a lower resolution like 5K or 4K HD and lower compression at higher FPS do that.
 
Also, I believe horizontal resolution has no affect on frame rate. Shooting at lower vertical resolutions will allow higher frame rates. Something to keep in mind. I think 6k 2:1 will do 96fps.
 
So does it feel like cropping down all the way to 3k on an Epic when shooting a Dragon in 4k to achive 120fps?
 
In terms of fov, is it more close to 3k on epic or almost as 4k?

Also please if somebode have good links with r3d from the dragon please post it here. Or pm me.
I need to consider the dragon once more.

The sensor in the Dragon is physically larger, so 4k on the Dragon will have a wider FOV compared to MX.
 
Just curios if you guys find 120fps in 4k on dragon have more details and less compression than 120fps on the epic? I only looked at a couple of 4k frames from the dragon from a slowmo sequence. Im thankful for all opinions and its a plus if you could post a short clip with r3d of the 120fps from the dragon.

Only true if both are shot at thier max resolutions of 6K and 5K respectively.

At same resolutions when shot, 4K on dragon vs 4K on MX, the MX will have a wider FOV.
